The 1st Annual 2010-2011 SPIRIT Scholarship

For the youth whose SPIRIT will
"Show Potential, Integrity, Responsibility, and Inspire Thousands!"
Throughout 2010-2011, the effort to host SPIRIT Scholarship in 2011 was tremendous!

The SPIRIT Scholarship was a new award to a college-bound senior from Thomas Spriggs Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland. Beginning in the 2010-2011 school year, one individual was honored with the annual award of $5000. Eight people won $100 each for best videos.

Testimony to the efforts by many people are throughout this entire website. It began with the announcement of the scholarship in Robert Yin's 21st birthday on December 12, 2010, "Scholarship and Music Go Together".

Applicants must have attended Wootton High School, and be outstanding members of the community, involved in school and extracurricular activities. The applicants were required to write a personal essay, in 300-600 words, which answers one of the following questions:
  1. Robert Yin said being honest and genuine helped him have better friendships and would lead him to a happy and healthy life. Tell us how you build enduring friendships? And/or tell us what you do to lead a happy and healthy life?
  2. Do you feel strong and passionate about something? What inspires you, and how do act on your feelings?
  3. How do you envision your future, as SPIRIT Scholar, "Showing Potential, Integrity, Responsibility, and Inspiring Thousands?"
Twenty-one seniors from the Wootton Class of 2011 applied for the honor to be the 1st SPIRIT Scholar. The competition required a video submission on YouTube. These youth are the most good-hearted, friendly, smart, and talented youth you could ever hope to know!
